Rita Rose Mary Dye, 79 of Ocilla, formerly of Alapaha, died Monday October 9, 2017 at her residence.
She was born February 24, 1938 in Guyana, South America to the late Joseph Jetto and the late Florence Daas Jetto. She was a retired food service employee with Berrien Middle School and a member of Alapaha Baptist Church. She loved people, flowers, cooking and wanted everyone to eat. She loved traveling to New York and New Jersey where she visited her nieces and nephews. She was also especially proud of her grandchildren. She was the widow of Colon Brown Dye who died in 1995 and was also preceded in death by a brother, a step son and a granddaughter.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Indira (Robbie) Dix of Ocilla and Stormie (Tim) Sidebottom of Hodgenville, KY; 3 sons: Kelly (Patricia) Dye of Hodgenville, KY, Tony Dye of Iowa and John Persaud of Boca Raton, FL; 13 grandchildren: Justin Dye, Brittney Dye, Cody Dye, Ashley Sidebottom, Christopher Dye, Kate Dix, Daniel Dix, Tyler Dix, Alex Persaud, Chandler Persaud, David Persaud, Ava Persaud, and Olivia Persaud; 6 great grandchildren; sister: Millicent Yhun of New York, NY; 2 brothers: Robert Jetto of New York and Harold Jetto of Ocala, FL; special niece: Patsy (Rick) Lal of Tampa, FL.; many other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday October 13, 2017 at 11 AM in the Alapaha Baptist Church with the Rev. Jay Roberson and Rev. Robbie Rowe officiating. Interment will follow at Glory Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
