Obituary

Robert Vinson Gaskins, 76, of Alapaha, died Thursday April 30, 2015 in the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

He was born November 20, 1938 in Berrien County to the late Ethan Marcus Gaskins and the late Emma Flanders Gaskins. He was a carpenter and member of Flat Creek Church. He had a love and gift for music and was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2008. He traveled for many years with Pine Mountain Valley Boys and had the honor of playing with Jim and Jesse McReynolds.

He is survived by his wife: Patricia Giddens "Pat" Gaskins of Alapaha; daughter: Amanda (Dewey) Morris of Macon; son: Vinson (Jessica) Gaskins of Alapaha; brother: Frank Gaskins of Alapaha; 4 grandchildren: Zachery Bristol, Robbie Gaskins, and Danielle Gaskins and Grace Ann Morris.

Funeral services will be held Sunday May 3, 2015 at 3 PM in the Flat Creek Church with the Rev. Mickey Lindsey, Rev. Jackie Connell officiating. Interment will follow in the Flat Creek Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, make contributions to Flat Creek Church.
