Obituary

James Rondal Tomberlin, 77, of Nashville died Monday September 1, 2025, at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville.

He was born September 6, 1947, in Lowndes County to the late Charles Henry Tomberlin and the late Mazella James Bennett. He was a retired laboratory technician and attended The Bridge Church.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy with service in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart.  He also received numerous other awards and citations for his dedicated organizational skills as a hospital corpsman, earning him the nickname of "Doc".  He was a proud member of the Nashville Post VFW as well as other military organizations.

He is survived by his wife: Carol Rowan Tomberlin of Nashville; daughter: Amanda (Frank) Barnett of Nashville; sister: Shirley (Jim) Hodges of Valdosta; daughter-in-law: Amanda Tomberlin of Cochran; 4 grandchildren: Emily Tomberlin, Kaitlin (Trenton) Smith, Avery Barnett and Braeden Barnett; 3 great grandchildren: Aubrey, Chandler and Asher.  He was preceded in death by a son, Ryan Tomberlin.

Funeral services will be held Friday September 5, 2025, at 11 AM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Mobley officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview cemetery. Visitation is Friday in the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Purple Heart Association or the Berrien County Animal Shelter.
