Ronnie Melvin Brogdon, 72, of Alapaha, died Friday May 27, 2016.
He was born August 14, 1943 in Irwin County to the late Leon Flem and Rosalie Jernigan Brogdon. He retired district utility engineer with Georgia Department of Transportation and after retirement worked as an consultant with Lee County. He attended Alapaha Baptist Church, served in the United States Air Force and the Vietnam War. He was very active in his community and passionate about his farm.
He is survived by 3 daughters: Rhonda Tulynn Cooper of Las Vegas, NV, Kristi (Robert) Young of Carrollton and Kimberly (Grant) Waldrop of Temple; 2 sons: Ronnie Stacy (Kim) Brogdon of Alapaha and Tyler Brogdon of Alapaha ; sister: Melba Purvis of Tifton; 8 grandchildren: Josh Brogdon, Julia Brogdon, Dillon Cooper, Baily Cooper, Kristin Young, Bryce Waldrop, Riley Waldrop and Jayde Waldrop; niece, nephew and several cousins whom he loved deeply.
Funeral services will be held Saturday June 4, 2016 at 11 AM in the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald Mallard officiating. Interment will follow in St. Luke Cemetery with the Rev. Billy Roberts officiating. Visitation is Friday from 7 to 9 PM.
