Roy Laverne Akridge, 88, of Nashville, died Friday August 9, 2024 in the Berrien Nursing Center.

He was born September 5, 1935 in Berrien County to the late John D. Akridge and the late Maudell Hancock Akridge. He was a retired shrimp boat captain and was also a truck driver for years. He was preceded in death by his wife: Betty Jean Moore Akridge who died in 2006; sister: Shirley Pafford; 2 brothers: Johnny Akridge and Bobby Akridge.

He is survived by a daughter: Cheryl Akridge of Brownsville, TX; son: Roy Akridge, Jr of Villa Rica; 2 step daughters: Rhonda Garrett of Portland, OR and Donna Cole of Tifton; step son: Chuck Garrett of Colorado Springs, CO; 2 sisters: Faye Gaskins of Nashville and Barbara Jean Kitchen of Adel; brother: Carroll Akridge of Sparks; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

His family will honor request for cremation and a visitation will be held Tuesday August 13, 2024 from 4 to 5 PM in the funeral home.
