Roy
Futch
April 27, 1943 – April 8, 2026
Roy Estil Futch Sr., 82, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on April 8, 2026.
He was born on April 27, 1943, in Willacoochee, Georgia, to Henry T. "Dumps" Futch and Louise Bradford Futch. He grew up in Nashville, Georgia, and spent the rest of his life in Jacksonville, Florida.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Patty Anderson and Marie Beeman; and his brothers, Swinton, Winslow, Cordell, and Carol Futch. He is survived by his sister, Carolyn Grubaugh (Tim) of Marietta, Georgia.
He is also survived by his children, Roy Estil Futch Jr., Tammy Louise Futch, and Henry Reed Futch; his grandchildren, Michael, Kaelan, Megan, Hannah, Katie, Darlene, Roni, and Hailey; and seven great-grandchildren, with baby girl Catlin on her way. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, extended family members, and several lifelong friends who will miss him dearly.
Roy was a welder by trade but worked many jobs throughout his life, including chicken farming and diesel mechanics. He often said chicken farming was the job he enjoyed most. No matter the work, he was known for his determination and strong will.
His true passion was the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, and spending time in nature—places where he felt most at home.
Roy was a stubborn man, but also one who never met a stranger and could strike up a friendship with anyone. While life wasn't always perfect, he found great joy later in life as a grandfather and great-grandfather. His love, humor, and presence left a lasting impact on those who knew him best.
He will be deeply missed and remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Westview Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the cemetery one hour prior to the service.
