Betty Rudine Schmittou, 87, of the West Berrien Community, died Monday, November 24, 2025, at her residence.

She was born December 22, 1937, in TyTy, GA to the late Martin Taylor and the late Maliscia Holloway Taylor. She was a homemaker, bookkeeper, and member of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her family, grandchildren, music, and laughter. She was the widow of Clarence Raybon Schmittou who died in 2005. She was also preceded in death by 6 sisters: Trudy McNabb, Ruth Harris, Grace Friar, Gertie Barber, Geraldine Champa, and Josephine Joyce; 4 brothers: James Taylor, Reuben Taylor, Riley Taylor and Rancil Taylor.

She is survived by her daughter: Deanna Schmittou of Nashville; son: Glenn (Anca) Schmittou of Strasburg, VA; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 11 AM in the Vickers cemetery with the Rev. Ethan Schmittou officiating. Visitation is in the cemetery thirty minutes prior to the service.
