Samuel James "Sam" Welch, 64, of Calhoun, GA died Friday October 19, 2012 in the Cartersville Medical Center.

He was born January 23, 1948 in Clinch County to the late Larkin Welch and the late Willie Mae Wheeler. He was a retired logger and member of Christian Crusade in Moultrie. He was preceded in death by his wife: Linda Ann King Welch who died November 2, 2001 and 2 sisters: Dora Ann Sapp and Becky Wooten.

He is survived by his daughter: Mary Ann Groves of Moultrie; son: Sam Welch, Jr of Homerville; brother: Johnny Welch of Nashville; 3 sisters: Faye Cowart of Thomasville, Marie Welch of Bainbridge, and Nancy Sheriff of Calhoun; 10 grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday October 23, 2012 at 4 PM in the Poplar Springs Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 9 AM until 3:30 PM.
