Shirley Kaye Mathis, 74, of Nashville, died October 17, 2026, at Berrien Oaks.

She was born December 17, 1951, in Lowndes County to the late James Fountain and the late Doris Stone Fountain. She worked at Nashville Mills for over 25 years and attended Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her family, especially her kids and grandkids. She loved aggravating her husband, loved her flowers, and a good thanksgiving meal with family. She was preceded in death by a sister: Lavene Sizemore and brother: Junior Fountain.

She is survived by her husband: Darrell Mathis of Nashville; 2 daughters: Nichelle (Jamey) Gray of Nashville and Shannon Brantley of Nashville; 6 grandchildren: Kayde Rae (DJ), “the boys”, and Laryssa Skinner; 3 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday, October 23, 2026 at 6 PM in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
