Obituary

Teresa Owens of Enigma, Georgia, passed away on April 20, 2022 in the arms of her children. She was honored with the presence of family and friends in the days prior. She is the daughter of Jean and O Dee Owens and is survived by her father: O. Dee Owens, sister: Diane Owens, daughters & sons-in-law: Ashley Dee & Brent Amyette, Sarah Jean & Andrew Swain, Katie Dover-Conger & Kyle Conger, and her most precious grandchildren: Leila, Beau, Corinne, Rivers and Hunter. Her life was made full by the love and support of many lifelong friendships, including best friends, Irene Pappalardo and Mandy Robinson along with their families, as well as many other close family and friends.

Teresa's life was a humble life spent in service to others. She had a God-given calling to work with children specifically severe and profound students in education. Her students each became her children and she loved them deeply. Be it a parent, sibling, student, friend or one of her many children, she was always quick to offer support, advice, comfort and love. She was selfless in the giving of herself for the benefit of others.

Teresa spent much of her time throughout the years volunteering both in her home church and outreach ministries as well as the 4-H and FFA programs, among others, and was known by all of her children as "Mother Teresa".

She lived life to the fullest, always up for the next adventure. Her favorite places to live were home in South Georgia, Arizona and Virginia. She was blessed to be able to travel internationally long with state-side. Always happy to take friends along for the ride, her adventures included quick trips with her children, grandchildren and spontaneous trips with her best friends. After retiring, Teresa went on to become a caregiver for family members which she considered her life's purpose.

Her positivity and jovial personality made in impact on all who have crossed her path. She maintained that optimism through the many trials of this life. Her faith and love for the Lord were evident and gave her strength to overcome the trials of this earth and the promise of eternal love. Her family and friends are blessed to have known and loved her. Her family is honored to have had her.
