William Thomas "Tommy" Smith, 58, of Chaserville Community, Sparks, died Saturday September 21, 2019 at his residence.

He was born November 1, 1960 in Berrien County to the late E. D. Smith, Jr. and the late Onnie Bell Jones Smith.  He was a former deputy sheriff for Cook County Sheriff's Office and a former prison guard at Valdosta State Prison.  He was a member of the Nashville First Baptist Church, and a veteran of the U. S. Army.

He is survived by his wife: Teresa Jones Smith of Sparks; daughter: Angela Catrice (Brandon) Myrick of Thomasville; son William Thomas Smith, Jr. of Sparks; 8 grandchildren: Savannah Byrd, Dylan Beal, Caley Pinson, Brayden Smith, Hunter Weeks, Jayden Smith, Payden Smith and Cabran Myrick; 2 great grandchildren: Kendyl Boykin and Cayleigh Beal; sister: Jan Brunson of Milledgeville; brother: Bobby Smith of Nashville.

The family will honor his request for cremation.  A memorial service will be held Wednesday September 25, 2019 at 6 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home. Visitation is one hour prior to the service.
