Van Patrick "Pat" Balliet, 98, of Nashville died Monday March 7, 2016 in the Berrien Nursing Center.
He was born March 17, 1917 in Ocala, FL to the late John Balliet and the late Rosie Harvey. He was a farmer and a member of Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and a charter member of the Nashville VFW. He was preceded in death by his wife: Essie Kirkland Balliet; son: Eddie Pafford; daughter-in-law: Mary Ellen Pafford; 6 sisters and 4 brothers.
He is survived by daughter: Christine Chisman of Wayne, NJ; son: Ernest Balliet of Nashville; 7 grandchildren and several great & great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday March 12, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. J.W. Dukes, III officiating. Interment will follow in Poplar Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church.
