Velma Louise Johnson, 88, of Alapaha, died Sunday June 6, 2021 in the Tift Regional Medical Center.

She was born March 2, 1933 in Cleveland, TN to the late Emmett James and the late Vina Mealer James. She was a homemaker, worked as a seamstress at Levis Strauss and was a caregiver. She was a member of the Ocilla Church of God and was preceded in death by a son: Kenneth E. Glaze. She was also preceded in death by 3 sisters: Margie James, Edna Manas and Josephine Sauls; 5 brothers: Windom James, Roy James, David James, Tilman James and Tommy James.

She is survived by her daughter: Sandra Glaze of Alapaha; 3 sisters: Ivoray Akridge of Calhoun, Mary Tucker of Alapaha and Margaret Pierce of Alapaha; brother: Charles James of Ringold.

Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday June 9, 2021 at 4 PM in the Fletcher Cemetery with Elder Robert Tucker officiating. Visitation will be in the cemetery thirty minutes prior to the service.
