Vera Corene Gaskins' Obituary
Vera Corene Gaskins, age 103 of West Berrien died Wednesday June 29, 2016 at her residence.
She was born December 31, 1912 in Lake Park to the late Daniel Lambert Connell and the late Iva Hiers. She was a homemaker and a member of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Earlie Redding Gaskins who died in 1992 and John Knight who died in 1935. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Kenneth Connell and L.D. Connell; 3 sisters, Doris Reed, Norma Cranford and Nina Smith; 1 son-in-law, Gerald Holland; 1 great grandson, William Farmer.
She is survived by 5 daughters: Johnnie Knight Holland and Laverne O'Neal of Fayetteville, Pam (Dub) Danforth and Faith (Derrell) Danforth of West Berrien, Mary (Carl) Johnson of Tifton; 2 sons, Don (Pam) Gaskins and Ronnie (Shirley) Gaskins of West Berrien; sister, Clyde Smith of Adel; 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday July 2, 2016 at 4 PM in Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Stan Nix and Rev. Ken Potts officiating. Interment will follow in Oakey Grove Cemetery. Visitation is Friday 6-8.
