Versacola Sutton, 99, of Nashville died Wednesday December 25, 2013 at the SGMC/ Berrien Campus.
She was born August 3, 1914 in Berrien County to the late Neal Edward Griner and the late Mattie Camellia Drawdy. She was a homemaker and a member of Open Door Baptist Church and the widow of George Tilden Sutton. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law: Jerry and Joyce Sutton; 2 sons-in-law: Billy Powell and J.A. Williams; 1 great great grandson: Banner Vickers; 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
She is survived by 3 daughters: Mary Powell of Adel, Sue Williams of Adel, Dell (Donald) Allen of Nashville; 1 sister: Ruby Johnson of West Berrien; 7 grandchildren: Pat James, Paige Martins, Steve Powell, Angie Cornelius, Jerry Sutton, Jr., Melissa Sassenger, and Gretta Tennison; 13 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; and 1 great great great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at the Open Door Baptist Church on Monday December 30, 2013 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Gary James, Rev. Jody Futch, Rev. Mickey Lindsey, and the Rev. Jackie Connell officiating. Interment will be in Oakey Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00-8:00 PM.
