Walter Arthur "Boogie" Snipes, 73, of Ray City, died Friday November 13, 2020 at his residence.

He was born August 23, 1947 in Lowndes County to the late Arthur Leonard Snipes and the late Louise Elizabeth Garner Snipes.  He retired as an electrician from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers union, member of Ray City United Methodist Church and a volunteer fireman with Ray City Fire Department. He was a 33rd degree Mason, Shriner, and a volunteer with Minded Hearts at SGMC. He was very involved with the Berrien County Cancer Society and an avid supporter of all Berrien County sports.   He was preceded in death by a sister: LaJuana Clark; two brothers: Charles Snipes and Donald Snipes.

He is survived by his wife: Debra Martin Snipes of Ray City; daughter: Stephanie Newbern of Fitzgerald; three sons: Steven Snipes of Canton, Daryn Snipes of Valdosta and Jimmy Dupree of Ray City; three brothers: Duggan Snipes of Snellville, Billy Snipes of Jennings, FL and James Snipes of Buford; eight grandchildren: Tanner, Kennedy, Thomas, Kolt, Sam, Carter, Braxton and Levi; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday November 17, 2020 at 2 PM in the Ray City United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Mitchell, Rev. Don Bridges and Rev. Kenneth Clark officiating.  Interment will follow in Beaver Dam Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Sunday November 15, 2020 from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
