W.E. Hughes, 87, of Nashville, died Monday September 13, 2021 in Tifton.

He was born June 7, 1934 in Berrien County to the late Walt Hughes and the late Delia Taylor Hughes. He was a farmer, attended Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church and served in the National Guard. He was preceded in death by a son: Greg Hughes, and an infant son; 3 sisters: Polly Lewis, Irene Roe and Ethel Harris; 3 brothers: T.C. Hughes, L.D. Hughes and W.H. Hughes.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Bernice Purvis Hughes of Nashville; daughter: Tammy (Keith) Frazier of Valdosta; son: Trent (Janice) Hughes of Nashville; 5 grandchildren: Brandon (Amber) Frazier, Courtney (Kyle) Meeks, Shelby Frazier, Laken Hughes and Aubrey Hughes; 2 great grandchildren: Sawyer and Dallas; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday September 16, 2021 at 4 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. J.W. Dukes III and Dr. Bill Hancock officiating. Interment will follow in the Nashville Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Thursday one hour prior to the service.
