Obituary

Rev. William Garvie Nichols, 76 of West Berrien, died Wednesday, March 5, 2025, in the Tift Regional Medical Center.

He was born April 5, 1948, in Tift County to the late James Dovward Nichols and the late Aline Conger Nichols. He worked in agriculture sales and was a minister in the Smyrna Missionary Baptist Association. He was a member at Pine Ridge Missionary Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Glenda Grizzard and Dorothy Grant; 3 brothers: Johnny Carl Nichols, Rev. Charles Nichols and Harvey Nichols.

He is survived by his wife: Waunell Bennett Nichols of West Berrien; daughter: Alicia (Robert)Young, Jr. of Athens; 2 sons: Rev. Garvie (Julie) Nichols, Jr. of West Berrien and Carl (DeeDee) Nichols of West Berrien; 7 grandchildren; 3 brothers: Kenneth Nichols of West Berrien, Henry (Tammy) Nichols of West Berrien and Calloway (Candy) Nichols of West Berrien; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11 AM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Roberts and Rev. Gary James officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakey Grove cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 6 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
